Buying a domain takes about ten minutes and costs less than lunch. This walkthrough shows the real screens, the real prices, and the two or three extras every registrar will try to add along the way, so you can decline them with confidence.
The pattern is the same everywhere: the first year is cheap, the renewal is the normal price, and the checkout attaches optional services that start free and bill later. You want exactly one thing in the cart, the domain, for one year.
When we walked Domain.com in August 2026, a .com was $5.00 for the first year plus a $0.20 ICANN fee, $5.20 total, renewing at $19.99 a year after that. Promo prices rotate; the shape stays.
